Painted Table’s Mexican Menu is Both Filling and Delicious

If you ever find yourself in Puerto Princesa, Palawan looking for food that will fill your tummy and that is well worth the money; make sure to visit Painted Table at Canvas Boutique Hotel. Whether or not you are actually staying at Canvas, a visit to Painted Table is definitely worth it.

The place is perfect for couples, families, and even big groups of friends because they have tables to suit any group size. The best part is that all of the dishes on their Mexican menu are absolutely delicious and sure to fill your tummies if you’re especially hungry. Here are some of our favorites:

Nacho Basket (Php480)

Nachos are given an extra flavor at Painted Table as they are served as big chunks of crunchy goodness. Three whole tiers of homemade rainbow flour tortillas are layered with picadillo, salsa cruda, olives, and jalapenos, and then topped with guacamole, pico de gallo, crema, and mozzarella. You will then crunch it all up before eating, and let me just say: these are my favorite nachos at the moment. Ever. By far.

Light Quesadillas (Php290) / Meat Quesadillas (Php320)

The Painted Table’s Quesadillas come in two variants: Light and Meat. If you’re not that hungry or prefer some seafood, get their Light Quesadillas with grilled shrimps marinated in tequila and calamansi, cilantro pesto, cheddar and mozzarella cheese, and sided with pico de gallo. For a heavier option, get their Meat Quesadillas with yellow cheddar and mozzarella cheese with pork carnitas, garlic confit, and cherry tomatoes topped with jalapeno aioli and pico de gallo.

Costillas Adobadas (Php590)

Craving for some meat? Order a whole kilo of pork ribs marinated in their blend of dry rub that is grilled and served with grilled corn, harissa aioli, and pico de gallo.

Chicken Palawan Mole (Php360)

If you prefer chicken, their Chicken Palawan Mole is a half roasted chicken with savory mole sauce flavored with chili and different herbs and spices, mellowed with cacao and accompanied with mashed potatoes and sauteed vegetables.

Chorizo Tlayudas (Php350)

Even their pizza is Mexicanized here. This open-faced tortilla is topped with mozzarella cheese, pork carnitas, and chorizo, and garnished with pickled red onions, tomatoes, and garlic confit.

Soft Tacos (Php88 to Php99 per pieces / Php240 to Php280 for 3 pieces)

They’ve got a lot of different flavors for their Soft Tacos: Shrimp, Lengua, Tacos Pescado, Ssam Gyeup Ssal, Tacos de Pulpo, and Carnitas – either way, they are all tasty!

Panelas de Tres Leches (Php180)

This delicious butter cake is soaked in tres leches and topped with whipped cream, candied cashes, and macerated cherries. A definite must-try!

Churros (Php180)

Yup. They’ve got churros, too. If you like your churros crispy, then this is the perfect place to get them. Here, they are served with cajeta syrup and spiced chocolate for an extra oomph!

Chili Chocolate Mousse Alaska (Php180)

If you like the thought of an extra oomph to your chocolate, try this spiced chocolate mousse covered in Italian meringue and flambeed with rum. This is my favorite dessert on the menu (that I was able to try, anyway).

If you want to soak up some sun or take a dip in the pool, you also have the option to enjoy their Mexican fare by the poolside, where they have an entirely different menu for you to enjoy.

Here are some of our poolside favorites:

Pasta de Tomate (Php320)

For your pasta fix, try their spaghetti with pomodoro, basil, and cherry tomatoes. Delicious!

Salted Egg Pollo (Php360)

Salted egg chicken thighs with cabbage, gochujian aioli, and nori flakes? YES, PLEASE!!!

Calamari Chicharones (Php280)

These calamari chicharones are an absolute must-try!

The best part is that you’ll get to enjoy the pool as you munch on these delectable dishes.

The food isn’t the only great thing about Canvas Boutique Hotel, either. Aptly named, the entire hotel is like a canvas of art with beautiful artwork by Filipino artists found all over the place from the rooms to the dining tables to the elevator walls. It is downright gorgeous!

The next time you go to Puerto Princesa, make sure to visit Canvas Boutique Hotel and try their Mexican food. The best part is that it’s literally just two minutes away from the airport, so it’s super easy and convenient to get to! What more could you ask for?
