Once in a blue moon: Two full moons are happening this October!

If you like waiting for the full moon to see and admire its beauty, then you’re in for a treat this October.

Next month, a “Blue Moon” will shine the night sky. This means that two full moons will be happening in the same month.

While it doesn’t necessarily mean that the moon will be shining blue, this phenomenon is special because it happens about once every two and a half years (hence the term “once in a blue moon”).

The first full moon of October will be seen on October 2 here in the Philippines.

The second full moon, which is the “Blue Moon” will shine on the 31st. This “Blue Moon” on Halloween is also extra special because it’s the first time that it will be seen around the world on the same night. The last time this happened was in 1944, during World War II.
