OMB Raids Buses Showing Pirated Copies of ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’

Several buses were caught showing pirated copies of the recently released film Hello, Love, Goodbye and foreign blockbuster hit Avengers: Endgame during a raid by the Optical Media Board on Wednesday, August 28, at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange.

According to a statement released by the OMB, the bus operators of Metro Manila Bus Co., Saulog Transit, and SanTrans Corp. could be charged for violating Republic Act No. 9239 or the Optical Media Act of 2003 which prohibits the illegal possession of any intellectual property.

OMB agents were able to confiscate the USB flash drives which contained the pirated films.

According to the law, piracy is punishable by up to six years imprisonment and subject to a fine of up to PHP 1.5 million.
