Olive Tree Kitchen & Bar (OTKB) Takes Food Tripping to A Whole New Level
When in Manila and looking for place with great food and ambiance for you and your friends, I recommend you check out the Olive Tree Kitchen and Bar along Bonifacio High Street!
A few weeks ago, me and the WhenInManila.com “tropa” were in for a night of pigging-out. We were checked-in at a nearby hotel so we decided to go to Bonifacio High Street for dinner. It was our fellow writer Mimai who recommended we should try out OTKB! We heard they recently launched their new menu so we decided to give it a go!
Their cocktails menu seemed so inviting so we ordered their signature best sellers! We were all blown away by their variety of unique cocktails!
Tame the Yeti, Ginger-Lychee Mojito and Manila Mule
Mimai loved the Cantaloupe Margarita with Fresh Cantaloupe, Tequila, Lime and Syrup
Joanne Tan on the other hand liked the Gin Basil a lot! (Gin, Vermouth, Orange, Basil, Tonic)
When I come back, I’ll most likey order their Claret(Red Wine, Syrup, Lemon,Mint, Soda)
Their Golden Girl (White Rum, Coconut Rum, Port Wine, Pineapple, Syrup, Tarragon) is also a MUST TRY!
I believe that was the first time which I genuinely enjoyed a round of drinks. All of us shared the same sentiments about their cocktails being highly satisfying! I can’t wait to try out the rest of their beverages! Oh btw, if you love margaritas, you can enjoy bottomless margaritas for only P399 if you use your Visa Card!
Their impressive cocktails prepared us well for the feast ahead. Honestly, I never thought their food was that outstanding… Here are the dishes which we loved most during our visit:
I’d like to introduce to you my most favorite among the dishes we tried that night. If you’re a fan of salmon (like me), you won’t be disappointed with their Pan Seared Salmon (Carrot Flan Puree, Heirloom Carrots, Granola Trail, Horseradish Mousse). The salmon was cooked perfectly. I can still remember how I enjoyed its silky texture plus the play of flavors which complimented each ingredient. I was surprised with the granola trail! I’ll definitely order this in my next visit.
Sous-vide Black Pig/Berkshire Pork Belly (Potato Gnocchi, Poached Apples, Fennel Slivers, Whole Grain Mustard)– OMG, I’m just really impressed on how well their chefs make their meats so tender and flavorful. This one was a show stopper!
Braised Pork Trotter – Chicken Mousse, Lamb Sweetbreads, Morel Mushrooms, Potato Puree, Raisin Glaze (this dish is an homage to Chef Pierre Koffmann): Again, another slow-cooked masterpiece. This one was so tender, slicing it was effortless.. 4 thumbs up!
Lightly Smoked Duck Breast (Duck Leg Confit, Belgian Waffles, Pencil Asparagus and Leek Salad, 63°C Egg, Port Gastrique, Maple): This is definitely another unique and delicious way of cooking duck. I believe this is the only duck dish which I found not boring!
Baked Rack of Lamb (Sweetbreads, Grilled Peperoni Peppers, Heirloom Tomatoes and Carrots, New Potatoes, Sauce Ratatouille, Minted Creme Fraiche) : This one was too good that I don’t remember seeing it for more than 5 mins on the table. By the looks of it, I believe this dish needs to introduction. The taste was nonetheless divine!
Our favorite dessert that night was yet another tray of edible chocolate art. Bits of chocolate of all textures and sizes are to be enjoyed in this plate. These delightful nibbles deserve a standing ovation!
If you and your friends love cocktails and are always in search of good places to dine, I highly recommend you check out OTKB’s cocktails and these dishes which we enjoyed a lot!
