Netizens Offer Help for Elderly Woman With Rescued Dogs and Cats in a Pushcart

An elderly woman roaming along Quirino Avenue with rescued stray dogs and cats placed in a pushcart melted hearts of netizens, mostly animal lovers and fur parents.

Concerned netizen John Albert Sanico recently shared photos of the woman and her rescued pets in a Facebook group. He said he saw her collecting and selling garbage on Quirino Avenue to buy food for herself and her beloved pets.

In the caption, he wrote, “Medyo gutom na yung dogs and cats niya. Nilapitan ko at mababait sila. Nagbigay lang ako ng konting halaga. Kasi wala akong dalang cat/dog food [Her dogs and cats are hungry. I approached them, they’re kind and friendly. I gave her a small amount because I didn’t have cat and dog food to offer].”

According to Sanico, the woman often roams around Quirino Avenue in the morning and afternoon and settles down for a night behind the Victoria de Manila condominium in Malate, Manila.

Hindi ko natanong if gaano na katagal na yung mga rescues niya pero mukhang matagal na sa kanya kasi mababait sila at malilinis po. Hindi ko nakuha name ni Nanay kasi saglit lang po kami nakapagusap dahil pauwi din ako sa Las Piñas [I wasn’t able to ask how long her rescues have been with her, but it looks like she has been with them for a long time because they’re kind and clean. I didn’t also get her name because we only talked for a while, as I was on my way home to Las Piñas],” he told WhenInManila.com.

Sanico said the woman requested a sidecar to provide her rescued pets a more comfortable space while she collects garbage.

Sana mabigyan niyo po sila ng cat and dog food. And hiling ni nanay na sidecar/padyak sana dahil hindi na kasya yung mga rescues niya [I hope you can give her cat and dog food. She asked for a sidecar because her rescued pets won’t fit in a pushcart anymore],” he added in his post.

In the comments section, netizens called for help for the woman. Some even offered to find her in the area to give dog and cat food, while others applauded her love and dedication to stray dogs and cats despite her situation.
