NCR, Except City of Manila Under COVID-19 Alert Level 4

Despite the government’s announcement of new quarantine classifications, the National Capital Region (NCR), except Metro Manila was announced to be under COVID-19 Level 4.

The Alert Level 4 means an area has moderate to critical risk and has a healthcare utilization rate higher than 70%. Metro Manila, on the other hand, the City of Manila is under Alert Level 3 which is moderate to critical risk but has a bed occupancy rate lower than 70%.

NCR will be under General Community Quarantine or GCQ from September 8-30 2021. But according to the Department of Health (DOH), the NCR is on the highest alert as COVID-19 cases rise and hospital beds keep on being occupied. The intensive care utilization is now at 74% in Metro Manila.

According to Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, Metro Manila had a two-week positive rate, high-risk average daily attack rate, and high-risk case classification.

“All areas except the City of Manila are classified as Alert Level 4. The Delta variant had been detected across all areas in the NCR,” Vergeire said.
