Naci Comfort Food: Appetizers

Naci has a bunch of appetizers to choose from. If you’ve been here a couple of times, then by all means order your favorite from the list. However, if it’s your first time, I strongly recommend you to try Nat’s Appetizer Sampler (P520)

I could get full with just the appetizers!

 

Unlike other restaurants, Naci Comfort Food actually allows customers to pick the dishes they will include in the sampler. Just pick out 4 of your top bets from the list of appetizers, and they will put all these together to create your own version of Nat’s Appetizer Sampler. How cool is that! At least this way, you’re sure you’ll love what you ordered.

In our case, we chose the Cajun Mozarella Balls (P280 if ordered individually), the Classic Salpicao (P380 if ordered individually), the Beef Taco Springroll (P280 if ordered individually) and the Glazed Chicken Wings (P350 if ordered individually)

I especially enjoyed the Beef Taco Springroll. It was the first time I tasted a taco and springroll fusion and Naci’s version was a great way to start! It was so fulfilling! Even the wrap was flavorful! Another favorite was the Cajun Mozzarella Balls. I usually find cheese balls boring because oftentimes, the taste is only at the center and the rest of it usually just tastes like flour. Naci’s Mozzarella Balls however were so good that I wanted more! The mozzarella was all over and not just in the center, the tomato topping also surprisingly made the Mozzarella Balls taste even better.

 

Naci Comfort Food: Salads

Naci has 4 salads to choose from, the Classic Caesar Salad  (P220), the Smoked Salmon Salad (P320), the Tofu Green Salad (P240) and our pick for the night – the Kani Mango Crunch (P295)

The Kani Mango Crunch is Naci’s house specialty salad. It is filled with layers of assorted greens, kani, ripe mangoes, cucumber with crispy wonton and vermicelli and drizzled with wasabi mayo for that extra kick! I specifically liked the crispy wonton in this salad. It made the salad so much more special.

Naci Comfort Food: Pasta

We tried two of their pastas that night. First up was the Penne Al Fulli with White Shrimp (P360).

It’s basically penne pasta tossed in creamy basil mushroom sauce and white shrimps served with focaccia bread. My friends and I all agreed that the taste was similar to truffle, some felt the flavor was unique while others thought it was common. The mushrooms however added good texture and flavor to offset the penne.

Next up was one of my favorites for the night, Nadine’s Adobo Cannelloni (P360). The pasta is called such because owner Nadine’s comfort food are actually adobo and pasta, hence, the chef decided to combine the two to come up with this masterpiece. Nadine’s Adobo Cannelloni was one of my favorites because of its unique combination. I mean, where have you ever seen an adobo pasta right? The cooking was similar to lasagna but with pork and chicken adobo inside instead.

Naci Comfort Food: Lites (Merienda)

Since Naci Comfort Food aims to be the place for you to relax and find comfort, they’re open all day and serve not just lunch and dinner but also breakfast and merienda. Though it was already dinner time, we just had to try some of their appetizing merienda dishes.

 

Smoked Salmon Pizza (P540)

The Smoked Salmon Pizza is again something you wouldn’t find everyday. I’ve heard of Pepperoni Pizza, Meat Pizza and even Sisig and Burger Pizza, but Salmon Pizza? This is a first. Pizza with class! The Smoked Salmon Pizza had a hint of pickle in the sauce that offsets the strong flavor of the salmon. The soft topping / salmon and the crunchy thin crust was a great combination, definitely well-balanced. As co-WhenInManila.com writer Jason Cruz puts it, “Panalo!”

Naci Comfort Food: Entrée

From the menu, you can select the kind of meat your prefer – seafood, beef, poultry or pork. Under each meat is a selection of different mouth-watering dishes that you will surely love.  One of their best sellers is the French Baked Pork Shank (P490) and so that’s exactly what we had.

Mostly everyone in the group LOVED the French Baked Pork Shank because the meat was incredibly soft and tender. Co-WhenInManila.com writer Joanne Tan says it was her favorite. “It has that melt-in-your-mouth goodness. The pork is juicy and tender and has the most savory sauce to compliment it. One cup of rice is not enough to pair with this delicious treat!”
