‘Mythbusters’ host Grant Imahara passes away

Such a terrible day. :'(

We learned from authorities that Naya Rivera is confirmed dead after she was reported missing on Wednesday, July 8. Today, the Glee star’s body surfaced in Lake Piru in California, coincidentally, on the seventh death anniversary of her Glee castmate, Cory Monteith.

Now, we learned another star has lost his sparkle.

Mythbusters host Grant Imahara passed away today reportedly due to a brain aneurysm, according to The Hollywood Reporter. His passing came as a shock to family, friends, and fans.

“We are heartbroken to hear this sad news about Grant. He was an important part of our Discovery family and a really wonderful man. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family,” a representative for Discovery said in a statement.

Imahara is an electrical engineer and roboticist who was a huge part of the hit but now-defunct Discovery series Mythbusters. In 2014, Imahara left the series. Later on, he reunited with co-hosts Tory Belleci and Kari Byron for the short-lived Netflix show, White Rabbit Project.

Prior to his stint on TV as a show host, Imahara was part of LucasFilm. For nine years, he was working in the background, creating inventions for the THX and Industrial Light and Magic divisions. Most of his works appeared in some of the biggest sci-films.

Adam Savage, also a former MythBusters host wrote in a tweet, “I’m at a loss. No words. I’ve been part of two big families with Grant Imahara over the last 22 years. Grant was a truly brilliant engineer, artist, and performer, but also just such a generous, easygoing, and gentle PERSON. Working with Grant was so much fun. I’ll miss my friend.”
