‘Mowgli’: An A-List Cast Takes on Motion Capture Roles in This Andy Serkis-Directed Flick

Andy Serkis, the master of motion capture acting (he played Gollum in ‘The Lord of the Rings’, King Kong in ‘Kong’, Caesar in ‘The Planet of the Apes’, and Snoke in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’). Now, he’s taking the helm as director and star of the movie ‘Mowgli’ based on Rudyard Kipling’s book ‘The Jungle Book’ (1894).

While we are all familiar with the Disney animated movie of 1967 and some of us have also seen the live-action movie that just came out two years ago, Andy Serkis’ take on it is very different. For one, it’s darker. Secondly, there is no music to give off a lighter feel. And most importantly, Andy gets to showcase his mastery of motion capture with the help of an amazing A-list cast who all took on motion capture acting for the film, including Christian Bale as Bagheera, Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan, Cate Blanchett as Kaa, and of course Andy Serkis as Baloo.

Thanks to this technology, Andy is able to give the beloved animals of ‘The Jungle Book’ a breathtaking range of emotions, which you can see in the trailer itself. Watch it here:

Aren’t the visual effects simply amazing? ‘Mowgli’ will be released on Netflix this December 7, 2018.
