The Mount Pulag Protected Landscape (MPPL) Protected Area Management Office (PAMO) announced on February 20 the temporary closure of Campsite 1 and 2 for rehabilitation due to extensive littering, despite regular clean-up efforts.
“Following a recent site investigation, it has been observed that Campsite 1 & 2 at Mt. Pulag are heavily littered with garbage despite regular clean-up efforts by staff, porters, and guides,” the advisory stated.
“Campsite 1 & 2 will be temporarily closed to allow for rehabilitation and to instill discipline among visitors.”
MPPL Protected Area Superintendent Emerita Albas reiterated that campers who leave trash at the site will be penalized. Campers were encouraged to carry their trash with them and use reusable water containers to prevent littering.

The management noted that the reopening of Campsite 1 and 2 will be announced once they are “deemed suitable for use again.”
“We urge all visitors to practice Leave No Trace principles and help preserve the natural beauty of Mt. Pulag,” the advisory concluded.
Rising 9,606 feet above sea level, Mount Pulag is Luzon’s highest peak and a popular destination for tourists seeking breathtaking views and memorable outdoor adventures.
