Mon Confiado recently shared on his Instagram account the preparations he made before filming officially began for his upcoming movie, The Fisher, that had its theatrical release on October 21, 2026.
In his Instagram post, Mon Confiado said that to fully understand his character, he needed to immerse himself in the life of a fisherman so he could fully embrace the role. He did so by living as a fisherman for one month.
“Isang buwan bago ang shooting, iniwan ko muna ang mundong nakasanayan ko upang makibahagi sa mundo ng mga mangingisda sa Norte,” the actor said in his post.

“Namuhay akong kasama nila. Nakibagay sa kanilang pamumuhay. Nagpaitim. Nagpapayat. At higit sa lahat, sinikap kong unawain ang buhay na araw-araw nilang hinaharap – ang dagat, ang hanapbuhay, ang pagod, at ang pakikipagbuno sa buhay,” he added, along with photos of him as he lived alongside the fishermen.
He emphasized the importance of feeling and understanding how Pedro, his character, lives and sees the world he’s in.
The question now is: what kind of acting technique did Mon Confiado show?
Mon Confiado’s approach is an example of method acting, a technique in which an actor aims to create truthful, expressive performances by fully inhabiting their character and living their experiences.
An emotion-oriented technique, it was invented by a Russian actor named Konstantin Stanislavski in the early 1900s. It was then brought to American acting studios in the 1930s and was further developed by Lee Strasberg and Elia Kazan.

He heavily emphasized the importance of fully embracing a character he is assigned, as he believes that playing the role is not just delivering the lines or acting in front of the camera. Rather, for him: “Ito ay isang proseso ng pag-unawa, pakikinig, at unti-unting pagpasok sa kamalayan ng isang taong ibang-iba sa sarili mo.”
The Fisher, directed by Paul Soriano, is now showing and can be watched exclusively in Philippine cinemas.
