Miss Universe Philippines 2026 Bea Millan-Windorski championed marine conservation in her Beyond the Crown advocacy video.

As someone whose Filipino lineage originates from La Union, a coastal province in the Ilocos Region, preserving marine biodiversity is something close to Bea’s heart.
The 24-year-old beauty queen highlighted in her advocacy video the importance of protecting the ocean, citing Filipinos’ dependence on it for their livelihood.
“When we protect our seas, we’re not just protecting animals; we’re also protecting humans,” Bea said.
“For millions of Filipinos, especially in coastal communities… the oceans are our livelihoods. It feeds families, it drives tourism, and it sustains our communities,” the beauty queen added.
Providing solutions to ocean threats, Bea said that protecting the ocean requires a collective effort from the community—something she learned from working with Project Coastal Underwater Resource Management Actions (CURMA), a community-based sea turtle conservation program based in San Juan, La Union.

“I’ve had the honor of working with Project CURMA since I was a teenager, helping carry their message far beyond La Union’s shores. And that message is: conservation works best when communities are integrated into the solution,” Bea shared.
Project CURMA aspires to transform poachers into turtle protectors and environmental conservationists.
Aside from protecting the marine ecosystem, the Philippines’ bet also emphasized the importance of mangroves in safeguarding coastal communities during typhoons and serving as nurseries for marine animals.

“In a country regularly battered by typhoons and intensified natural disasters, protecting coastlines isn’t just about saving the environment. It’s also about saving our home,” Bea said.

Beyond the Crown is part of the Miss Universe pre-pageant activities where candidates have the chance to showcase what they are fighting for, showing that pageantry is not just about physical beauty and that stepping onto the stage has a purpose.
