Singer, songwriter, and viral sensation Mikey Bustos has dropped a surprising new music video titled, “Cancel Me,” the lead single to his upcoming album.

In a comment on social media, Mikey posted “Never too late to pick up on an old dream from where you left off” referring to his surprising return to music after 15 years of blazing a path for himself online with his hilarious viral Pinoy-themed comedic skits and parodies, and even a popular ant channel. The former Canadian Idol Season 1 finalist says that this new music release is a multi-year passion project of his, sharing his experiences and bits of wisdom acquired over the past decade and a half of being an online entertainer and YouTuber.
The song ‘Cancel Me’ with its infectious, funky disco-centric beat and unapologetic lyrics, is a bold stance on the importance of conviction and authenticity despite the backlash, hate comments, or “cancel culture.”
In an Instagram post promoting the single he writes “Blast CANCEL ME on your speakers and dance like no one’s watching! Haters/detractors can kiss your feet because no one can stop you from living life your way!” and in another post he writes “I wrote CANCEL ME because I wanted my fans to remember their own greatness, to remember the star they are within, born to shine brightly, even if others don’t like or understand it.”

The new music video to Cancel Me is just as in-your-face as the message. Cinematically shot with guest appearances by fellow influencers like Kuya Kurt who plays an evil billionaire and Inka Magnaye, a news reporter, the music video for Cancel Me features Mikey as the leader of a Mafia of Men with Ant Heads (a nod to one of his other Youtube channels AntsCanada), who seek to rob a bank for the sake of good. The video features energetic dance numbers reminiscent of 90’s Michael Jackson, choreographed by DJ Loonyo, a high-speed motorcycle chase, and even a gun shoot out with the police.
