Meet the Filipino Medalists of the 2025 SEA Games

The Philippines bagged multiple medals on the first day of the 2025 Southeast Asian Games in Thailand.

On December 10, the country earned its first gold medal through Justin Kobe Macario, who topped the men’s taekwondo individual freestyle poomsae event with a score of 8.200.

“Justin Kobe Macario’s victory in the Men’s Taekwondo Freestyle Poomsae barged the Philippines into the gold medal count of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand,” the Philippine Sports Commission wrote in a congratulatory post on Instagram.

Moreover, swimmers Kayla Sanchez, Xiandi Chua, Chloe Isleta, and Heather White of the Philippine women’s swimming team clinched the country’s second gold medal in the women’s 4×100 freestyle relay.

The Philippine team finished with a time of 3:44.26, just over two seconds ahead of the Singapore team, who secured the silver medal. Meanwhile, the Vietnam team took home the bronze.

“The Philippine Women’s Swimming Team enforced a masterful performance to gain the country’s second gold in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand,” the agency captioned its post. “That’s the Filipino spirit! Hanggang sa mas marami pang ginto!”

  • Philippine women’s swimming team: Gold (4x100m freestyle relay)
  • Gian Santos: Silver (Men’s 200m medley)
  • Philippine men’s taekwondo team: Silver (Men’s Recognized Poomsae Trio)
  • John Derick Farr: Bronze (Mountain Bike Downhill)
  • Godwin Langbayan: Bronze (Jiujitsu men’s fighting 62-kg division)
  • Patrick Perez and Jocel Ninobla: Bronze (Recognized pair poomsae)
  • Philippine men’s hockey team: Bronze (Hockey 5s)
  • Philippine women’s hockey team: Bronze (Hockey 5s)
  • Philippine men’s sepak takraw team: Bronze (Hoop Event)
  • Philippine women’s sepak takraw team: Bronze (Hoop event)
  • Philippine taekwondo team: Bronze (Mixed Freestyle Poomsae)
  • Philippine chess team: Bronze (Makruk team men’s triple blitz)

As of December 11, the country has won a total of 13 medals: two gold, two silver, and nine bronze medals. Meanwhile, Thailand currently has the most number of medals, with 41.
