After MTRCB permits the screening of Barbie the Movie in the Philippines on July 19, we are getting more and more reasons why it’s a must-watch movie of the year.
Following the cast of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, a Filipino American Actor is also playing the role of Barbie in the movie.
Meet Ana Cruz Kayne, a Filipino American actress who is playing Supreme Court Justice Barbie in the movie. The 39-year-old is no stranger to TV and Film. She had appeared in Law and Order, the 2019 film Little Women, and Netflix’s Partner Track, just to name a few.
Ana Cruz Kayne’s mother is Filipino and she had been seen wearing Filipino-inspired fashion in some of Barbie’s promo tours.

She was spotted wearing a Dennis Lustico top paired with a fringe dress by Hervé Léger- a perfect meeting of both her American and Filipino roots. She described the look with the words “dreamiest balintawak”. The designer also took to Instagram to show off the pink ensemble and shared “She stars in the much-awaited film and specifically requested to wear something Filipino for the big day”.
