After Gangnam style broke the internet by exceeding YouTube’s 32-bit counter by hitting more than 2 billion views last 2014, YouTube celebrates yet another milestone today as the first video ever uploaded on their site reaches the 10-year-old mark!
The video, titled “Me At The Zoo,” was uploaded by the username jawed on April 23, 2005.
In the short video, Jawed Karim, co-founder of YouTube, narratively described his fondness of the elephants behind him with their “really, really, really long trunks.” It was filmed at the San Diego Zoo and has garnered over 19.4 million views and still growing.

Though a simple 18-second video, it made history as the first video ever uploaded on the site. Other than that, it now holds the record for the first video ever to reach a decade old.

“Alright, so here we are. One of the elephants, um, cool things about these guys is that they have really, really, really long, um, trunks and that’s cool”
