Even Mars Ravelo’s family is supporting Celeste Cortesi’s Darna costume at the Miss Universe preliminary competition.
Mars Ravelo is the co-creator of Darna with Nestor Redondo.
A statement was shared on Instagram by JRB Creative Production, a unit of ABS-CBN and the producer of Mars Ravelo’s Darna.
The statement began: “We are proud of Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi for championing Darna on the world stage through the 71st Miss Universe national costume competition.”

It continued, “The Ravelo family extends their full support, gratitude, and excitement for the opportunity to show Darna to a global audience through our country’s official Miss Universe representative. We hope that, like our beloved Filipino superheroine, Celeste will continue to serve as a source of inspiration and empowerment for women all around the world.”
Darna was created in 1950 and continues to be a Filipino cultural icon. Over 20 actors have portrayed the heroine in 14 movies and four series.
The latest actor to portray the superhero is Jane de Leon.
