Markus Paterson Asserts: “I Never Lay My Hands on a Woman”

Following the confirmation of his breakup with Janella Salvador, Markus Paterson took to his social media to clear his name amid allegations of physical abuse.

In a tweet, the young actor asserted that he has “never and will never” physically hurt a woman and will talk more about it on his new video podcast “Boys After Dark” which he hosts with his fellow male Rise Artists Studio artists Anthony Jennings, Jae Miranda, Gello Marquez, and Aljon Mendoza.

“Saw some tweets circulating. FACT: I have NEVER, and WILL never lay my hands on a woman. My parents raised me right. I’ll address the rest on the podcast,” he wrote.

These rumors started circulating online when Janella’s interview with Ogie Diaz resurfaced, in which she talked about her trauma around drunk men after being physically hurt by her ex-boyfriend. She also shared how Markus was “working on” cutting down his alcohol consumption for her sake.

“Actually, ‘yung naging trauma sa ‘kin hindi ‘yung physical part eh (Actually, the trauma for me isn’t the physical abuse part). I have never talked about this. I won’t go into detail na lang pero ‘yung part na na-trauma ako (I won’t go into detail anymore but the part that traumatizes me) for some reason is being around drunk people, drunk men. Pag lalaki, tapos lasing, tapos wala sa sarili, doon ako na-trauma (If they’re male, and they’re drunk, and the can’t control themselves, that’s where my trauma gets triggered),” she told Ogie.

Syempre [Markus is] younger, hindi niya maiwasan na gusto niyang mag-enjoy minsan. Hindi niya naman din kasalanan na may trauma ako pero we’re trying to work on it (Of course, Markus is younger, so he can’t avoid wanting to enjoy sometimes. it isn’t his fault either that I have trauma but we’re trying to work on it),” she added.

Markus recently made headlines for his remark about never wanting to date fellow actresses anymore on the “Boys After Dark” video podcast where the hosts discuss topics while playing games and drinking.

Kung may lessons ako sa mga relationships ko (If I learned any lesson from my past relationships), [it’s] never to f***ing date someone in the industry, bro. Wag niyo i-cut ‘yan, seryoso ako diyan (Don’t cut that out, I’m serious),” he said in the first episode titled “Lies, Honesty, & the Truth in Relationship.”

Later on, he reiterated: “Sa lahat ng mga manonood na batang artista o gustong mag-artista, ‘wag kayong mag-date ng ibang babaeng artista (To all those watching who are young artists or aspiring artists, don’t date a fellow female celebrity).”

Janella confirmed their split on September 4 when she called herself a “single mom” in an interview with Bernadette Sembrano. They have a one-year-old son, Jude.
