In an episode of “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab” aired on April 2, Klarisse announced something she has never talked about publicly.
“Sa tingin ko ito na yung time para sabihin sa inyong lahat (I think this is the time to tell you all) and to tell the world that I’m not straight. I am bi [bisexual],” Klarisse said.
She also revealed to her fellow celebrity housemates that she has been in a four-year relationship with her partner, Christrina Rey.
“Yung kinekwento ko sa inyo na may four years akong partner (The one I was telling you about, that I have a partner for four years). Yes, I have had a partner for four years. Her name is Trina. And hindi ko in-expect na masasabi ko ngayon ito. Wala lang, ang lakas lang ng loob ko para sabihin (I didn’t expect that I would be able to say this now. I don’t know, I just suddenly found the courage to say it),” she shared, which earned loud applause from the housemates and celebrity guest Michelle Dee who facilitated the task.
The OPM singer revealed that her parents, including her late father, were aware of her identity. She also shared with the housemates that she felt fortunate that her parents had their full support when she came out.
However, she admitted that it took her a while to open up something personal and she wasn’t able to talk about her identity in a professional setting: “Ang tagal kong pinag-isipan kung sasali ako ng PBB kasi hindi ko alam kung kaya kong i-expose ang buhay ko. Actually nung una nag-no ako, parang kaya ko ba? Kaya kong bang i-open ‘yung sarili ko sa public. Eh, obviously nandito ako, so, kaya ko (I spent a long time thinking about whether I should join PBB because I wasn’t sure if I could expose my life. Actually, at first, I said no because I wondered if I can really do this? Can I open myself up to the public? But obviously, I’m here, so I can).”
The 33-year-old singer is now confident and ready to share her identity with the world, backed by the overwhelming support of her fellow PBB housemates.
“I am proud!” she exclaimed enthusiastically. “Love wins!”
Following the announcement, Christrina expressed how proud she was of the OPM act.
Additionally, PBB’s official social media account stated how proud they are of her and her bravery in sharing her story with the world.
