When in Manila and living in the South, it can be hard to find places to eat dessert at that don’t involve mere cupcakes and cakes or a lot of people and noise. Most of the time, every go-to dessert place in the South is packed and just not-peaceful, in general. Well, I stumbled upon the perfect place to have my desserts (in peace) now: Marisa’s Silvanas & Sans Rival. ๐
Marisa’s Silvanas & Sans Rival
Marisa’s Silvanas & Sans Rival is nestled inside BF Homes Phase I, Paranaque – right in front of Serenitea. They also have a kiosk on the 2nd floor of SM Southmall in case BF is too much of a hassle for you to get to. :p They will also be opening at SM Megamall soon! ๐
Another sweet surprise? If you used to love Red Ribbon’s silvanas, then I’ve got news for you: these are the exact same ones! That’s right. Marisa’s used to make the silvanas for Red Ribbon. Now that Red Ribbon has stopped offering them,ย though, Marisa’s has decided to set up shop for themselves to keep spreading the silvanas love to those who truly enjoy them.
The minute I walked into Marisa’s, I felt extremely at ease. Although the place is small; it is quiet, uncrowded and peaceful – a very welcome change compared to the hustle-y bustle-y noise found elsewhere in BF. The walls are also filled with unique artworks that are for sale, turning the space into an art gallery of sorts. Bonus points that there is an al fresco section for those who prefer enjoying the fresh air (and a cigarette or two) as they eat their desserts of choice.
Although named Marisa’s Silvanas & Sans Rival, they actually have more to offer than just silvanas and sans rival!
They’ve got walnut crunch cake at P90 a slice and P500 a cake, and chocolate cake for P85 a slice and P470 a cake, for example, the latter of which was delectably devoured by my lil girl in mere minutes.
Here’s a quick fact: my daughter isn’t very fond of desserts. In fact, she is extremely picky when it comes to cake. As such, I was extremely surprised that she took a liking to Marisa’s chocolate cake and that she begged for another slice to take home for later. At such affordable prices per slice, you definitely cannot go wrong with Marisa’s! ๐
Naturally, the piece de resistance ย of Marisa’s Silvanas & Sans Rival would be their famous silvanas, which taste even better than they look. Right now, they have four different flavours: chocolate, original, ube and pandan. Surprisingly, the pandan is my ultimate fave! A definite must-try! The others are good, too, though.
The best part is that you can keep them in the freezer for up to 2 weeks and they will still taste just as good as the first day that you bought them (albeit a bit harder, depending on how cold it is in your freezer). Tried and tested! ๐
As for the sans rival that Marisa’s has to offer, it tastes very different compared to regular sans rival. For starters, it isn’t as sweet as the ones that I am used to. It is also more buttery. While not for everyone, it is a great choice for those who like the idea of sans rival but prefer a less sweeter version. ๐
As of the moment, the only sans rival flavor available at Marisa’s is the regular kind, but they are currently thinking aboutย adding a new variant, too. Which one would you prefer? A low calorie sans rival or a flavored one, perhaps in pistachio, almond or hazelnut? ๐
Naturally, you will have your choice of beverages, too – from fruit juice to iced tea to bottled water to brewed coffee. Truth be told, all that Marisa’s Silvanas & Sans Rival needs now is a wider coffee option. If they get that, I will definitely turn it into my ultimate Southern tambayan in no time! :p
