Celebrity couple Maris Racal and Rico Blanco are no longer together, as confirmed by Maris Racal in a press conference for Star Magic.
In the clip that was uploaded on social media, the “Marupok AF” actress started tearing up after someone asked her a question about Rico.
“Do you see yourself ending with Rico?” she was asked.
She was then seen hesitating before saying “Yeah.”
Soon after, however, her tears started to fall.
It was then that she admitted that they had officially parted ways.
“I’m so scared,” she said. “I’m really scared. Ang dami kasing tanong about him and I’m tired of smiling and nodding. I’m so scared ‘cause if I announce it, then it’s real. But yeah, Rico and I are over.”
She revealed that the breakup happened only a few weeks ago and that the pain is still “fresh.”
“Loneliest, emptiest weeks I’ve ever experienced in my life,” she added. “Nanonood lang ako ng Bluey [to cope.]”
She shared that she was experiencing changes in her life that she had to face on her own and, after a “difficult talk” with Rico about it, it was their joint decision to split.
“Wala akong short answer for it. ‘Di ko rin siya mailabas ng isang statement lang kasi hindi ganon kadali. Sobrang complicated niya na situation,” she expressed.
“Rico and I, our universe was so beautiful. It was so full of love, laughter, and music, everything. Its spontaneity, everything. Sa five years namin together, we were always on the same page. Always on the same page. I don’t know what happened to me. Maybe I turned to the next page and saw a new perspective sa life. I had visions of who I want to become, how I want to evolve. I’m so curious about the world and the truth is, I am going through changes. And alam natin na change is either good or bad. But what I hate about change is that it’s inevitable. ‘Di mo siya matatakasan. And wala ka nang ibang [magagawa] kundi you have to face it and confront it. ‘
“Cause it’s been at the back of my head. So yeah. I told Rico about it. I told him my problems, my issues sa buhay. And he took it like a man.
“It was a very difficult talk kasi I love him so much. I love him and he loves me, but I have so many questions about my life and how will I go on sa buhay with him when I have so many questions about me, my sense of self?
“It was so difficult. But it was a very polite separation. Up to the very end of our relationship, it was still full of love. Full of understanding. And Rico is one of a kind. If only I could skip through my 20s but I can’t. I have to face it. I have to sit with my feelings and acknowledge my changes. Ayun lang.”
Maris, who is 26, and Rico, 51, made their relationship public in 2021. They first collaborated in 2019 for their single “Abot Langit.”
