Makata-pop band Munimuni is busy making music. Only a few months after the release of their last single, the 5-piece indie band surprised their fans with a fresh new song.
Munimuni announced the release of “Dito Muna” through their social media platforms. There were no teasers, no pre-release announcements—just a surprise link to the already-released song!
We caught up with Munimuni to talk about the new release, “Dito Muna”.
The band shares with WhenInManila.com a bit of a background about the song: “Dito Muna is a song about wanting to stay in the moment with someone, recognizing that the situation does not have to be anything grand or out-of-the-ordinary for that moment to be special.”
We asked Josh Tumaliuan, Munimuni’s drummer and the writer and composer of the song, about the inspiration for “Dito Muna.”
“May naexperience akong moment, na wala namang nangyari na grand or something, pero sobrang saya ko lang talaga na andun ako at ayaw ko na umalis,” he shares. (“I experienced a moment where there was nothing grand happening, but I was so happy I was there that I didn’t want to leave the moment.”)
This is actually the second song written and composed by Tumaliuan. So, can fans expect more songs written by other members of the band?
“Tingan natin… (Let’s see…)” was the band’s only reply.
Another fun fact about the song is that Adj Jiao, Munimuni’s vocalist and guitarist, recorded the drums for this track!
“Although hindi madali, na-excite ako sa idea, kahit noong una feeling ko pa-joke lang na sinabi ni Josh na ako mag-drums para sa Dito Muna! Masaya ako sa opportunity na maging creative sa paraan na iba sa nakasanayan,” says Jiao. (“Although it wasn’t easy, I was excited with the idea even though I felt like it was a joke when Josh first told me to play the drums for ‘Dito Muna’. I’m happy with the opportunity to be creative in a different way.”)
A day after the song’s release, Munimuni also dropped a sweet music video produced by Toothless Productions and directed by Tristan Ortega & Jonathan Tal Placido.
Watch it here:
(Sometimes, when you enjoy the moment with someone, you won’t notice the time passing and the things happening around you. There is the feeling that the world slows down, but there’s also the feeling that everything just passed by. But at the end, you still don’t want to leave that moment.)
With already 3 single releases in just the first half of the year, what else can we possibly expect from the band?
“More music hehe,” they replied.
OPM fans and their loyal Komunidad fans will surely be on the lookout for what’s yet to come from Munimuni. For now, we’ll be listening to this newest song on repeat.
“Dito Muna” is now available for streaming on digital platforms!
