Magnum Opus Fine Coffees: Brewing Works of Art with Single Origin Specialty Coffee

When Jon and Sir (resident barista at Magnum Opus Fine Coffees and yes, his name is really Sir) were making the coffee concoctions, Jon was also telling me that all the ingredients that they use on their coffees are fresh: farm fresh milk, melted Belgian chocolates for coffee drinks with chocolate notes, and imported coffee beans.  Sounds good to me! It’s time I took a break from 3-in-1 instant coffee. 

What was also interesting is they rarely use sugar in their coffee drinks. They brew them in such a way that the flavors go well together and they want to eliminate this stigma that coffee is bitter without sugar and it tastes better with it.

First up was the Latte. This is double ristretto with perfectly steamed milk. What I liked about this one was the mild taste of the farm fresh milk that came after the foam. Good thing I listened to their tip that I shouldn’t mix the foam with the drink so I can feel the transition of textures in the drink. I think this will be a perfect companion for breakfast meals before going to work / school.

The Belgian Heartbreaker isn’t heartbreaking at all and I loved it! Before drinking this, I was told that this was one was one of the best-sellers of Magnum Opus Fine Coffees. No wonder why, it tasted really nice. It was like I was drinking layer by layer of Belgian chocolate in different intensities. I sipped in down to the last drop.

The Waffle Gato was my second favorite. This is a unique offering at Magnum Opus Fine Coffees.

Although I haven’t tasted espresso before trying this, I loved this also. This is vanilla ice cream with espresso shots and 2 pieces of unsweetened crispy waffles. It was a harmonious blend of flavors (sweet and bitter) and textures (smooth and rigged). I liked that they used vanilla ice cream since it had a neutral flavor and it was my first time to try something with espresso shots so I really got to experience the flavors of this.
