The highly anticipated cinematic partnership between Star Cinema and kumu has just released its movie poster, along with the confirmed movie name and main cast. The movie is officially titled “Love At First Stream”, with the main leads from RISE Artists Studio: Daniela Stranner (@ellastranner), Anthony Jennings (@anthonyjennings), Kaori Oinuma (@kaoriioinuma), and Rhys Miguel (@rhys_miguel). All of them are also kumu streamers.
Star Cinema has also hinted a bit about the plot of “Love At First Stream,” which will be lead by blockbuster director, Cathy Garcia-Molina, also known as Direk Cathy (@direkcathy). The teaser notes, “Love At First Stream” is about the new normal, where life is wildly digital. A streamer, a student, a breadwinner, and a heartthrob explore love, friendships online to escape their realities online. And yes, viewers can expect a glimpse into the colorful world of the Kumunity.
Last week, an official partnership announcement between kumu and Star Cinema was streamed on the FYE Channel (@fyechannel) in kumu. During the announcement, partners have detailed other key elements about the movie, such as its very innovative and unique plans to have the Kumunity involved in some aspects of the movie. This makes “Love At First Stream” a ground-breaking first in Philippine cinema history.
With such a grand vision placed on the movie, the cast themselves are excited for their upcoming roles as well. “I was surprised, but at the same time happy and excited,” said Kaori Oinuma, who will play the character Megumi, a kind and sweet girl on the path for Magna Cum Laude in her school. “I didn’t expect [it], kasi na bilang hindi pa ako ganun katagal (because considering that I’m still new) in this industry, they’ve trusted me and given me an opportunity na mapakita pa ang aking talento (to showcase my talents).”
Upon hearing his official casting, Rhys Miguel was also over the moon. “I could not stop smiling and laughing,” he shared. Rhys will be playing the character of Gino, a smart and popular boy who just wants to escape his day-to-day reality. “I’m looking forward to Direk Cathy really guiding us along the way, and looking forward to the fans seeing this!”
Likewise, Anthony Jennings is overwhelmed with excitement for “Love At First Stream.” But also, he’s intrigued by the innovations kumu will have in place for the movie. “Kasi bago it sa atin, ‘di ba? (This hasn’t been don before, right?)” muses Anthony, who plays the part of Christopher, a charming lad who will do everything to help his family. “This is not just a simple movie, ang galing lang na naka isip sila ng ganitong collaboration. Kaya sobrang excited ako sa kalalabasan ng movie na ito, kasi medyo meron itong other methods, siguro given that involved si kumu. (This is not just a simple movie and they’re amazing for having come up with this collaboration. That’s why I’m so excited to see the outcome of this movie especially since filming it involved other methods given that kumu was part of it.)”
Finally, Daniela Stranner will play the role of V, a street-smart go-getter who is out to forge her path through live streaming in kumu. “Expected ko na (I expect that) this will be a very fun movie. It’s very interesting and I know that people will love this movie!” gushed Daniela, knowing the quality work Direk Cathy is renowned for. “Nung diniscuss sa amin yung characters, sobrang kinikilig ako! Oh my gosh, isa ito sa mga dream roles ko! Tapos very first movie ko pa. Super saya ako, and super grateful. (When we discussed the characters I couldn’t help but feel elated! Oh my gosh, this is one of my dream roles! And it’s my first movie too. I’m super happy and super grateful.)”
