Looking Back at Technology Summit 2020: Mapping Future Possibilities

La Salle Computer Society (LSCS) has constantly left a mark on its members to live yesterday’s vision, set today’s trends, and inspire tomorrow’s leaders. The year 2020 was no exception as it marked the 8th run of LSCS’ biggest annual flagship event, Technology Summit 2020. This year marked the first ever online installment of Technology Summit with the theme of “Mapping Future Possibilities”. The event was held last November 7, November 28, and December 5, 2020 and utilized both Zoom and a private Facebook group as platforms for the event to help connect the event with people from all over the country. In total, the event was able to gather 1373 attendees.

The first day of the event started with MSI Philippines marketing product specialist, Mr. Ira James Garcia as he discussed the different possibilities that Mixed Reality could potentially bring. It was then followed by Navitaire Philippines Inc.’s Software Development Analyst, Mr. David Angelo Reamon as he skillfully demonstrated how simple Mobile Development could be. The first day ended with Make Technology’s  UX Manager, Mr. Nico Encarnacion as he taught the basics of a prototyping application called Figma.

 

The second day of the event started with Globe Telecoms’ innovation lead, Mr. Bobby Corpus, Jr. as he simplified the concept of Quantum Computing. Ms. Karen May Garcia, Globe Telecoms’ Program Governance Manager for Broadband, then followed him up as she expounded on the concept of 5G. Ubisoft Philippines, 2017 Programmer,  Mr. Dennis Li, then ended the second day as he explained the wonders of Game Development.

 

The last day of Technology Summit 2020 began with Mr. Brent Anthony Tudas, the co-founder and CTO of Arya Twelve, Bakas PH, as he explained the concept of Blockchain Technology. He was then followed by SGV & Co.’s Senior associate in the Technology Consulting practice and Manager in the Technology Consulting Mr. Jed Kenley Chua and Mr. Rapahel Jeremiah Luy, as they shared their vast experiences with Cybersecurity. The event ended with Mr. Seaver Choy, Chief Technology Officer at Anteriore Inc., who enlightened us with the Future of Technology in Business.

 

Technology Summit 2020 may have ended, but technology still continues to evolve and grow. As long as there are technological advancements in the world, LSCS’s Technology Summit will continue to make them be known to our community.
