Traffic in Metro Manila has been so bad that a religious rally and rain (on separate occasions) can stop a nation’s capital and reduce it to a widespread gridlock. What can we do to improve it? Elect better politicians? Move to the province? Upgrade the public transportation system?
Experts from the University of the Philippines believe that an improved public transportation system is the key to solving traffic. Specifically, an improved railway network.
There are only four train lines in Mega Manila. Prof. Primi Cal of the UP School of Urban and Regional Planning proposes 20 train lines to correct the traffic situation. Check out Prof. Cal’s proposal below:

This looks like a great idea, but first things first. The present system with just 4 lines does not work because it is very inefficient. Trains frequently breakdown, Not enough trains to handle passenger volume, maybe also not enough trains to handle frequency during rush hours or when needed, maybe incompetent management, etc. Fix all these problems to make the mass transit system efficient thereby making it the choice for mass transit- killing the competition and removing all the buses and jeeps creating perrenial traffic. other forms of transit may be moved further away from the center of town decongesting inner streets and highways. Make ther system work first then plan for its expansion to reach all corners. WHAT is the problem? maybe the corruption in government? the management? our undisciplined society? the technology? who knows?

i think its the most logical solution to the traffic woes of metro manila
Kung gagawin nila to, I suggest, gawin nilang subway to, hindi na maganda yung overhead na nasa ibabaw ng kalsada, madaming drawbacks, matinding traffic habang ginagawa, kumikitid yung kalsada dahil nasasakop ng mga poste, nagiging gloomy yung lugar, madilim at bumabagsak yung mga negosyo dun sa mga kalsada sa ilalim ng train line tulad ng Rizal Avenue at Taft. Pag subway, normal takbo ng buhay at mga motorista kahit na may naghuhukay na TBM sa ilalim para gumawa ng subway, walang dagdag traffic. At, ang pinakamahalaga sa lahat, habangbginagawa na nila yan, mag lagay ng giant storm drain sa ilalim ng subway, parang korteng ‘8’, subway sa ibabaw stormdrain sa ilalim, para maibsan baha sa Metro Manila. Yan eh, kung.. kung, magkakaroon ang Pililinas ng Presidente na may totoong vision at hangad na gumanda ang Pilipinas. Pero kung dilaw na naman ang mananalo, malabo yan, kopya lang na nanaman ni Pa Not ang susunod na 6yrs ng Pilipinas. Ilang buwan na lang sya sa pwesto tapos saka nya lang inamin sa sarili nya na matindi traffic sa EDSA at kailangan nang ayusin. What A Joke!
