LOOK: Whole School of Manta Rays Fished in Bohol

As of the present, there are only two species of manta rays that are protected by law in the Philippines. The rest, including devil rays (as seen in the photo) will only receive protection in April. For now, reports like these should spark the authorities to act accordingly regarding the fishing of endangered marine wildlife.

Last Monday, a whole school of rays were fished out of the Bohol Sea. We’re used to seeing one or two rays caught, but a whole school is an alarming site. Let’s keep vigilant with these reports and continue to show support by not buying any product or byproducts of endangered wildlife.

What can we do to protect these marine species?
