Vice Ganda and Ion Perez don’t need to prove to anyone that their love for each other will stand the test of time, but they figured to have it inked permanently on their skin anyway as a symbol of their lifelong unity.
“Since we’ll be partners for life, itong markang ‘to ay for life na rin at wala nang burahan,” Vice said about the couple tattoos. “So kailangan ‘yung pang partners talaga ‘yung mga ilalagay namin, so ‘yung mga bagay na hindi puwedeng paghiwalayin just like us.”

The tattoos they got were matching but not the same, in the sense that when they place them side by side, they form a complete shape or sentence. They got five couple inks in total, the first of which was placed on the sides of their palms beneath their thumbs so that when they hold hands, it forms the phrase “I am” (on Vice) “with you” (on Ion). The others were the words “king” and “queen” and “for ever,” a smiley, and a heart.
“‘I am with you’ because as you can see we are very clingy to each other. Kaming dalawa ‘yung hindi kami mapakali kapag hindi kami magkasama,” explained Vice. “Kahit hindi kami magkasama, magka-video call pa din kami lagi. Para kahit di kami magkatabi physically, hindi namin nararamdaman na magkalayo kami. We always make it a point to make each other feel like we’re together.”
As for the smiley, Vice added that it represents them being “each other’s joy.” “He makes me smile. I make him smile. ‘Yung jowa mo dapat source of joy mo, hindi ka iniistress ng jowa mo. ‘Yung jowa mo, dapat pinapasaya ka, at ikaw rin ang dapat nagpapasaya sa jowa mo. Hindi ‘yung iniistress niyo ang isa’t isa,” she said.

Vice and Ion got their ink from a longtime cameraman of “It’s Showtime!” who is also a tattoo artist.

Vice and Ion went public with their relationship in October 2019 during an episode of “It’s Showtime!” They then had a commitment ceremony in Las Vegas two years later. They will be celebrating their fifth anniversary this year.
