LOOK: Post UAAP Men’s Basketball Finals, exchange of sportsmanship gestures for rivals Ateneo and La Salle

Waters are now calm and still now that the first semester of the UAAP Season 80 is now over.

Just yesterday, the Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles concluded the first half of the UAAP season with a Championship title tucked under their belt, after dethroning the Taft-based squad in the Men’s Basketball category.

Rivalry has always been tangible for Ateneo and La Salle, but has weaned through the years with a friendlier disposition, especially and particularly outside the court.

Last night, right after the battle for the coveted Men’s Basketball title concluded, the facade of the St. La Salle building in Taft Avenue was lighted in blue “to celebrate a good fight”, according to the official Facebook page of De La Salle University.

As of writing, the facade of St. La Salle Hall is now in both blue and green, signifying unity and sportsmanship.
On the other hand, through a post on their official Facebook page, Ateneo de Manila University also expressed their gratitude for a “great series” with De La Salle.
In fact, even before the third game of the Finals, one sports fan and Twitter user acknowledged the spirit of sportsmanship inside the Araneta Coliseum between Ateneo and La Salle fans during the second game, in which the Green Archers won that forced a third game (Ateneo won the first game of the finals series).

Congratulations to the Ateneo Blue Eagles Men’s Basketball Team!
