A local Pinoy folk hero is traveling to New York for its big launch.
“Pedro Penduko” will be introduced in the form of a graphic novel and will be released in this year’s New York Comic Con.
According to Epik Studios, it is the first time a Pinoy “komiks” will be released in one of the most popular pop culture conventions in the world.
Before the New York launch, there will be limited copied of the graphic novel that will be available at the AsiaPOP Comic Con happening from today until Sunday at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
“Pedro Penduko” is a creation of Francisco V. Coching and debuted on Liwayway Magazine.
It had many film and TV adaptations. Efren Reyes Sr. was the first to play Pedro Penduko in 1954 followed by Ramon Zamora in 1973. The last big screen adaptation was played by Janno Gibbs.
On TV, Matt Evans played the role in 2006 on ABS-CBN.
