LOOK: Naruto characters are now cats

For 15 years, Naruto has built its own fanbase and audiences kept coming back to see what would happen with hot-blooded, pure-hearted Naruto, friend-turned-foe-who’ll-maybe-turn-friend-again Sasuke, emotionally evolving Sakura, and mysterious Kakashi.

Now, the cast of Naruto has been transformed into cats.

How?

Available from Bandai are the four core Naruto characters turned into cat figures. Actually, Japanese fans call these Nyaruto cat figures, since nyah is the onomatopoeia in Japanese that means “meow,” the sound that cats make. That’s some premium Japanese pun right there.

They can be purchased as a set with the cat versions of Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi committing fully to their hybrid roles. The figures show a perfect 50-50 split between creator Masashi Kishimoto’s original character designs and felines.

In the past, Bandai has released Naruto cat figures but in smaller sizes. The new ones are approximately 10 centimeters (3.9 inches) tall, which are more than three times the size of the old models.

The new Naruto cat set is available from the Premium Bandai online store for 1,540 yen (~P730). Shipping is scheduled for November.
