Travelers arriving at NAIA Terminal 1 will soon notice a refreshed, streamlined arrivals area. The airport recently shared a preview of its newly upgraded Arrivals Extension, which opened on February 9, 2026.

One of the most noticeable changes is the ramp leading into the arrivals zone. It’s now less steep and fitted with anti-slip flooring, making it easier and safer for passengers, especially those with luggage, strollers, or mobility aids, to move through the space.
The airport is also introducing a centralized pickup point for taxis and ride-hailing services to make exits faster and reduce congestion outside the terminal. A designated waiting area for meeters and greeters has also been added to help organize foot traffic.
Inside, the space looks brighter and more open, with wider walkways designed to improve overall flow and comfort. NAIA also shared that more food options are coming to the area, with additional outlets expected to open soon.
This update is part of the broader rehabilitation efforts led by the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC), which took over airport operations in September 2024 after winning the concession earlier that year. Their contract runs for 15 years, with an option to extend.
NAIA has also been rolling out other improvements across terminals, including biometric immigration e-gates at Terminal 3, which allow passengers to clear immigration in around 20 seconds. These e-gates are now operational at Terminal 1 as well.
