LOOK: Here’s a Preview of the Upcoming Super Mario World in Universal Studios Japan

In case you haven’t heard, Universal Studios Japan is going to get a whole lot bigger with its new haven for gamers from all around the world. Yup, the popular theme park is currently building a Super Nintendo World complete with blocky buildings, pipes, and the iconic goal pole from beloved game Super Mario!

USJ released the official image of the new world which features Princess Peach’s and Bowser’s castles aside from the expansive multi-leveled land. They also confirmed that there will be a Super Mario Kart and Yoshi’s Adventure ride.

However, this new world isn’t only going to be focused on Super Mario. Though no further details have been divulged, it is said that various other Nintendo games and characters will also be featured. In fact, leaked photos of the scale model of the new world revealed that there’s going to be a Donkey Kong Country area too!

Super Nintendo World is scheduled to open in 2020 in time for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. According to Chairman and CEO of Universal Parks & Resorts, Tom Williams, the new world will be interactive, with Nintendo-themed magnetic wristbands and possible Nintendo Switch integration.

He also previously stated that the Super Nintendo World will be coming to all Universal Parks over the next few years, except Universal Studios Beijing.
