LOOK: Filipina Fencing Star Completes 9 Ivy League Courses Online During Lockdown

Never let it be said that it couldn’t be done!

Maxine Esteban, a Filipina fencing star who bagged the bronze medal for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, made the most out of her free time while in quarantine by finishing nine—yes, NINE—online courses from Ivy League schools in the USA!

Maxine shared a photo of herself holding up her certificates on Instagram and it’s the most epic thing we’ve seen.

“With Ateneo calling off all online classes and deciding to give a passing mark to everyone, there wasn’t much to do anymore, there was a lot of idle time,” she told Spin.ph. “I was really used to having a hectic schedule. I came across forwarded links of free online courses from Ivy League schools, I got drawn into it because there were so many interesting business courses. I was really happy.”

The courses Maxine completed were on entrepreneurship, marketing, finance, and negotiation from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Yale University.

She is currently a sophomore at the Ateneo de Manila University. Apart from studying, she also organized a donation drive to help healthcare front liners amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
