Additionally, Jodi Sta. Maria stated that malicious remarks toward women must not be normalized.
The analogy wasn’t malicious said the person who made the remark. But the impact was clear..it made people, most especially women feel disgusted and disrespected.
If that kind of analogy was used to make a point it clearly reveals the mindset of the person who said it.
That’s…

Anne’s sister, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, published a series of social media posts defending her sister from Suntay’s controversial comments.
“Respect is not complicated. If we want safer environments for our daughters, nieces, and future leaders, accountability must begin with those elected to represent us,” Jasmine wrote.
“Dapat huwag na natin tanggapin ‘yung minsan biro-biro lang. Ang tagal na nating tinanggap ‘yon. Mali po ‘yon (We should no longer accept things that were once just considered jokes. We’ve tolerated that for too long. That was wrong),” she said.
She added, “Tandaan po ng mga kongresista na binabayaran kayo ng taong bayan. Hindi kayo andyan para magpa-cute. Wala kaming pakialam sa init ng kalooban ninyo (Let the congressmen remember that you are being paid by the people. You are not there to act cutely. We don’t care about your desires). Do your job well).”
Meanwhile, Atom criticized how these inappropriate remarks had become too normalized, considering that the statement was made in a public office.
Apart from celebrities and personalities, public officials like Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, Rep. Sarah Elago, and Senator Risa Hontiveros urged the congressman to issue a public apology to the actress.
“We call on Congressman Suntay to take full accountability for his remarks, issue a proper apology, and conduct himself with the dignity that his office—and our city—demand. Our people deserve no less,” said Belmonte in an official statement.
“Hindi dapat nagiging normal ang ganito lalo pa sa Kongreso at public office kung saan nakakaapekto ang mismong mga salita, pahayag, at aksyon ng mga public officials sa mga patakaran, sa kultura, at pang-araw-araw na buhay ng mga kababaihan at lahat ng ordinaryong mamamayan (This should not be considered normal, especially in Congress and public office, where the words, statements, and actions of public officials directly impact policies, culture, and the daily lives of women and all ordinary citizens),” wrote Elago in a Facebook post.
Hontiveros echoed a similar sentiment: “As we celebrate Women’s Month, this incident is a reminder that advancing women’s dignity and basic respect is continuous work; work that must be asserted, defended, and reaffirmed, again and again. Huwag nating hayaang maging normal ang kabastusan. Patuloy tayong manindigan para sa kababaihan (Let’s not allow disrespect and vulgarity to become normal. We must continue to stand up for women).”
During the proceedings on the pending impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte, the congressman openly expressed his personal “desire” for actress Anne Curtis.
