This is what dreams are made of! Disney has announced that apart from Hilary Duff, the original cast members of her character Lizzie McGuire’s family are also coming on board to do the revival series!
Disney dropped the news together with a cast photo featuring Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine, and Jake Thomas alongside Hilary, who couldn’t contain her joy as she held the script for their first table read (and we can’t blame her, because we’re freaking out too!)

In the Lizzie McGuire series, Hallie Todd played Lizzie’s mom Jo, while Robert Carradine played father Sam and Jake Thomas played the pesky little brother Matt. And we are beyond excited to find out exactly how these three are going to ruin 30-year-old Lizzie’s life this time.

“We are incredibly excited to bring back one of the most popular Disney Channel series of all time along with some beloved and familiar faces,” said Ricky Strauss, president of Content & Marketing at Disney+, in a statement. “With Terri [Minsky] at the helm and Hilary, Hallie, Robert, and Jake back after all these years, it’s our honor to welcome the McGuire family into the Disney+ family.”
“Just like there is no Lizzie McGuire without Hilary Duff, there is no McGuire family without Hallie, Robert, and Jake,” added Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide. “The original series holds a special place in the hearts of so many, and we can’t wait to introduce fans, both old and new, to an older, wiser, yet still perfectly imperfect Lizzie.”
The show’s original creator, Terry Minsky, is set to be the sequel’s executive producer and showrunner.
There’s no word yet if Hilary will be reunited with her on-screen best friends Adam Lamberg (Gordo) and Lalaine (Miranda) as well.
