In a “Can I Come In?” episode, Liza admitted that she and Enrique haven’t been “very truthful.”

“I’ve been honestly itching to tell people this because I haven’t been very truthful. Quen hasn’t been very truthful. Quen and I broke up. We’ve been broken up for almost three years now,” she revealed.

“The reason, originally why we haven’t said anything about it is because Enrique or Quen asked me not to say anything about it first and I think it, I don’t want to speak for him but I think it was coming from a place of not wanting it to be real,” she added.

The actress also shared that she agreed to keep their separation private because she didn’t want it “to be real” either.

“I agreed to do that because I also didn’t want it to be real. This is coming from the people pleaser side of me because I was so afraid that when people found out that we weren’t together anymore, my career would go bad or people wouldn’t love me anymore,” she stated.

The 27-year-old actress also revealed that she had already felt unhappy in the relationship prior to breaking up. However, she avoided confrontation: “I decided to just swallow it or sweep everything under the rug. I accepted that there were certain things about him that I wasn’t okay with and that it’s just always going to be like that.”

After being in a relationship for almost a decade, she thought that they would end up getting married.

“I was like mentally telling myself this thing because we were already at the point, almost 8 years together, and I was genuinely expecting us to get married, like, soon, but that didn’t happen,” she said.

“When I broke up with him, I would say that it was such a beautiful breakup because it was still full of love,” she continued.

The former couple dated in 2014, but only publicly revealed the relationship in 2019. As an onscreen loveteam, they starred in films and series, including Dolce Amore, Forevermore, My Ex and Whys, and Alone/Together, among others.

Breakup speculations between the two began as early as 2022. However, in an exclusive interview in 2023, the actor assured LizQuen fans that they were still together but were both focused on their respective careers.

In early 2024, the I Am Not Big Bird actor once again confirmed that he and the Lisa Frankenstein actress were still in a relationship.

“I think we just realized na, in life, parang we shouldn’t always be centered around each other. We can do more, grow more, achieve more. And it just makes us better,” he responded.

Furthermore, in a separate interview in late 2024, the actor shared that he was open to collaborating with her in the future: “She’s focused in the US, ang dami niyang auditions and events (she has a lot of auditions and events). But when she comes back, we will definitely talk about the story.”
