LazerXtreme: Laser Tag in Manila

When in Manila and looking for a fun and exciting way to spend time, check out LazerXtreme for a different kind of adventure.

It was the middle of a busy week when I decided to take an afternoon away from all the work and stress. On days like these the boyfriend and I usually head to the nearest mall and eat. The problem always was what to do after we ate. We would end up walking around, bored, with nothing left to do.

This afternoon, I decided to have a go at laser tag with the coupons that I got from Blogapalooza. I had never tried laser tag and I’d always been curious about it.

I figured, now was the time to try new things! Man, was I ever excited.

LazerXtreme is located at the end of Alabang Town Center’s movie houses. It sits there on the second floor, at an area where there is not much traffic from shoppers.

Walking there, you see a simple facade– clean and unassuming. I even wondered where we were going to play. I couldn’t understand where they found space in a mall where you could run around and try to shoot each other.

Once we were inside, we were toured by their friendly staff. I immediately realized how wrong I was.

I initially noticed their spacious lobby in front of the gaming area. Here you find the counter where their people can assist you and a few tables and chairs. There was even store that sold refreshments!

At the back of the store, hidden from plain sight, you will find a hidden gem. LazerXtreme is home to Planet Cafe, a small nook with big bright windows and comfy tables and chairs. It certainly had that quiet coffee shop vibe that I love.

Ian, the branch supervisor, told me that aside from the refreshments, sandwiches, and desserts they now serve, they are also planning to serve liquor at the cafe.

After looking around, we decided to try our luck at these laser games. The Laser Maze was up first. If you’ve ever seen Entraptment with Catherine Zeta Jones, well, that was the stuff it was made of.

Basically, you have to go through a room full of lasers back and forth, trying not to touch the beams. Sound easy enough? Try it in hard mode.

All the while, people outside get to see your progress through a camera. All I can tell you was that it was not as easy as they made it look in the movies. Still, I was ranked 17 out of everyone who ever played the game. Not bad, I think.

Next up was Laser Tag. Now, how it usually works is that you wait for opponents and then group yourselves accordingly, using different vests. The shooting would then ensue for one game which is a 20 minute round. Players then try to shoot opponents for corresponding scores depending on what body part they hit. Once you are hit, your lasers are only deactivated for 3 seconds. Shooting enemy bases score you extra points.

We were waiting for opponents when a group of young boys walked in. I chickened out from playing with their group. I didn’t want to be creamed by these boys the first time I ever played the game!

We then decided to play one on one. A luxury you can afford when it’s a weekday and not much people are around.

I was most certainly amazed when I walked in the game area. It was fantastic! Neon lights and glow and the dark decors. I was stunned at how pretty and complicated all the props were.

There was a big space and lots of nooks and crannies that you could squeeze into or hide from as you play the game. This room has a capacity of 40 people. There were even levels you could climb up on!

That was one of the most fun (and tiring) 20 minutes of my life. This is something everyone should definitely try. Next time I play, I would most definitely wait for other players. Not scared anymore!

After the game, they give you a score sheet which tells you the winner of the game. It also has the Vital Game Stats, Arena Stats, and the Team scores. Oh! And free iced tea for the winning team!

Last stop was the GolfXtreme course. We didn’t get to play but the course sure looked cool. I vowed to come back for this one.

LazerXtreme managed to give me the most fun I’ve had for a while. The spectacle of those cool lights and the games were just what I needed to relax. Honestly, I have no idea why I never tried this sooner.

So, When in Manila and looking for a fun adventure while in the confines of a mall, head on over to LazerXtreme. There is so much fun to be had!
