Late Former President Noynoy Aquino Honored With New Official Postage Stamp

The Philippine Postal Corporation (Post Office) unveiled a new commemorative stamp to pay tribute to the late former President Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino III held at the iconic Manila Central Post Office Building on August 2.

This occasion also marks P-Noy’s 40 days after death as well as the death anniversary of his mother and Democracy icon, former President Corazon Aquino.

Postmaster General Norman “Mr. Postman” Fulgencio thanked the family of the late President for allowing them to proceed with this special program to honor their brother. Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said that the launching of the Philippine Postal Corporation’s official “P-Noy Stamp” was to pay tribute and celebrate the legacy of public service that he had imparted during his term.

“It is also noteworthy to remember how P-Noy fought for and promoted our democratic foundations of liberty, sovereignty, and justice,” he added.

Although the Aquino sisters were not present during the launching ceremony, they requested their cousin Mayor Len Len Oreta of Malabon City to represent them. Ms. Ballsy Aquino-Cruz, one of the Aquino sisters, also sent a video message thanking the Post Office for recognizing P-Noy’s services and contributions to the country. “The Aquino family is deeply honored for this recognition,” she said.

Postmaster General Fulgencio also added that it is the mandate of the Post Office to immortalize and pay tribute to former Presidents who, in one way or another, have served and contributed to the development of the country.

“The Postage Stamps we issue symbolize unity, respect, love of the country and concern for one another regardless of color, race, or creed. When a former president passes away, we set aside politics and the whole country mourns.”
