Kris Aquino seems to be on cloud nine following the announcement of her surprise engagement with former Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mel Sarmiento, as she continues to share more moments from their relationship on her Instagram page.
The latest story she told her fans and friends on the social media platform was from her first-ever date with her now-fiancé. What caught everyone’s attention, though, was how the couple was dressed in formal attire even though the location of their date was an ordinary fast-food restaurant.
According to Kris, they were on their way home from a wedding when they decided to stop by a fast-food chain to eat.
“It was more than 3 hrs to get back kaya nag stop [muna kami] sa (that’s why we stopped first at a) fast food [restaurant] and it’s been YEARS since I’ve entered that particular brand and after the pandemic,” she wrote in the caption of her post. “Naaliw sa kin everyone (Everyone was entertained by me) […] especially Mel, because I said ang sarap maging (it feels good to be a) normal, regular person.”
Kris also noted that one of her companions had pointed out that time that no one dines in a fast-food chain wearing a gown and asking the crew for photos. “I said walang basagan ng trip (I said don’t rain on my parade),” she shared before thanking the employees for service. “1st time Mel & I ever ate out so you can say it was our 1st date – we won’t forget you.”

It was last October 24 when Kris revealed she was tying the knot with Mel.
