Grilled Samgyeopsal: Seasoned Pork Belly

Kiwa Korean Grill

The server taught us how to enjoy these enticing dishes: Get a piece or two of the cooked seasoned pork belly or the kalbi and dip it into the sauce. Choose between lettuce and mint then add seasoned vegetables. Voila, enjoy the freshness in every bite!

Japchae- Kiwa Korean Grill

I know how to make Japchae but it will never taste anything like this! Plus, their version of Japchae isn’t as oily as the ones I’ve tried before. For the benefit of everyone, Japchae is a seasoned soy sauce based pan fried glass noodles with beef and fried assorted vegetables.

And, the highlight of the day was the Pumpkin Salad.

The Pumpkin Salad is a great dish to refresh your palette from all the above-mentioned dishes. It’s a mashed pumpkin with assorted nuts and assorted seasoned vegetable topped with sesame seed dressing!

Sophisticated and Cozy Ambiance

Now, after the delightful and mouthwatering images, let me show you their state-of-the-art interiors.

Kiwa Korean Grill

Kiwa means traditional Korean roof tile, the ones normally used for Korean homes. And as a restaurant, they aim to have a place that provides a comfortable environment, perfect for relaxation and leisure.

I’m glad my friend, Patricia, chose to sit by the window. Enjoy the food while looking at the beautiful view of Manila Bay, sounds like  a plan! (A perfect spot for couples to watch the sunset together!!)

Anyhow, Kiwa’s kitchen is top-notch, all imported from Korea. Unlike other Korean barbecue restaurants, the floor and the tables are oily.

They have a state-of-the-art exhaust system under the restaurant so all the smoke goes under.

Therefore, you will not smell like smoke and barbecue when you dine in at Kiwa Korean Grill.

Why Dine in at Kiwa Korean Grill?

Why, not?!

All jokes aside, I felt intimidated. One, I (very) rarely dine-in at these restaurants. Primarily because it’s expensive and I have two rowdy children. Although, they (my kids) are polite and say thank you to servers, we are not comfortable – if you know what I mean. But, I’m glad to see high chairs all over the place. This means the place is a kid-friendly restaurant. As what Mr. Eddie Park (COO) said, “Although, we are located inside Casino hotel, we welcome families in our restaurant. Parents with children have the right to dine in at a decent restaurant, as well. We, at Kiwa, don’t discriminate. We welcome, everyone!

Evidently, being placed inside a luxurious hotel, Kiwa Korean Grill is not your ordinary Korean restaurant. Although, they look extravagant, the prices aren’t bad.  A full course menu at Kiwa is priced at around P3,000. It is composed of an appetizer, sashimi and appetizer assortment, the grilled main course, pancake, stir-fried glass noodles,  vegetables, rice, soybean paste stew or taste cold noodles plus dessert. Regular lunch sets start at P1,500 and rice sets go from P800 up. Serving sizes are very generous!

Kiwa Korean Grill is open from 9 AM to 12 MN, from Sunday to Thursday and 9 AM to 12 MN on Fridays and Saturdays. Weekend hours will be extended to 2 AM after the grand opening on January 28.
