Jo Koy to Star in an Upcoming Sitcom About Living With a Filipino Mother

Joseph Glenn Herbert, popularly known as “Jo Koy,” is set to star in an upcoming sitcom developed by the ABC network. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story will follow “Josep,” a hard-working nurse trying to navigate through dating, fatherhood, and his Filipino mother who is moving in with him. The comedian was thrilled to share the news on his Instagram account.

The project is under 20th Television with Young Sheldon’s Steve Joe as the showrunner and executive producers Randall Park (Fresh Off the Boat), Michael Golamco (Grimm), Jake Kasdan (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), and Melvin Mar (Fresh Off the Boat).

The Filipino-American stand-up comic recently published his autobiography called “Mixed Plate: Chronicles of an All-American Combo.” He has a weekly podcast entitled “The Koy Pond With Jo Koy,” and had four successful comedy specials on Comedy Central and Netflix. Moreover, he was awarded “Stand-Up Comedian Of The Year” at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival 2018 and reached #1 on the Billboard Charts for his stand-up comedy album, “Live From Seattle.”
