With the rise of the Hallyu wave in the Philippines, more and more Filipinos have fallen in love with Korean dramas and everything they have to offer. If you’re a fan of KDramas, then you must have definitely noticed that they typically turn to soju as their choice of alcohol.

This is probably because of two things. For starters, South Korea has four seasons and in the winter – from December to March – soju is a quick way to stay warm during those months. If you’ve ever visited South Korea during these colder months, you’ve probably spent a few nights drinking soju yourself.
Aside from that, soju also happens to be widely considered as Korea’s national drink. Soju has been historically embedded in their culture, and also reflects in the KDramas that they produce. Just like so many other people out there, my curiosity got the best of me when I started noticing its prevalence in KDramas. This soon turned into a phase of trying different kinds of soju and flavors to find out what the hype was all about.
Out of all of the soju I’ve tried, however, Jinro really stood out for me in terms of taste. And I was so happy to see Korean singer-songwriter and actress IU in their latest TV commercial, sharing the same love that I have for them:
Here’s Why Jinro Should Be Your Soju Brand of Choice, Too
There is a reason why Jinro is one of the top spirit brands in the world and a favorite among so many people. In case you didn’t know, not all soju are created the same. Jinro soju, in particular, uses a special patented bamboo-charcoal filtration process to produce a balanced soju composition. This is why, despite having that distinct taste of alcohol, it still goes down smoothly and tastes great – just like IU says in the commercial.

This special filtration system doesn’t just remove unwanted substances for that smooth and clean taste, either. It also helps minimize bad hangovers. I’ve come to notice that I sleep really well after a night of drinking Jinro, but I never feel bad or have a headache the morning after. Even if I get tipsy after drinking one too many shots of it, I feel great when I wake up. Of course, moderation is still key, though.

Despite some local manufacturers now trying to come up with products that seem to mimic soju, Jinro remains to be a favorite among Filipinos. Due to the authenticity that Jinro soju embodies, its taste and experience will remain unparalleled. My friends are especially picky about it. Whenever I suggest having some soju, their first question is always, “Is it Jinro?” If you want to make sure you’re getting real soju, just make sure to look for Jinro’s trademark toad on the bottle.
In their latest commercial, IU invites everyone to experience the goodness of Korea for real Jinro, as well. In terms of flavor, versatility, smoothness, and trustworthiness; there is only one name that should come to mind when it comes to soju: Jinro.
