Is Neil Buchanan of ‘Art Attack’ the Anonymous Street Artist Banksy?

We all know Neil Buchanan, the lovable host of one of the greatest children’s shows of all time, Art Attack. We also know Banksy, the ever-elusive anonymous street artist and political activist who has gained worldwide attention through the years for his thought-provoking graffiti art.

But are the two artists actually the same person?

It seems that rumors have started spreading on the internet, theorizing that Buchanan is actually Banksy, the reason for which is that Banksy art allegedly appeared in places where Buchanan’s former band Marseille played their gigs.

This prompted Buchanan and his team to come out with an official statement denying the allegations.

“Neil Buchanan ISN’T Banksy,” the statement read on his website. “We have been inundated with enquiries over the weekend regarding the current social media story. Unfortunately this website does not have the infrastructure to answer all these enquiries individually, however we can confirm that there is no truth in the rumour whatsoever.”

“Neil spent Lockdown with vulnerable members of his family and is now preparing to launch his new art collection in 2021,” it added. “Thank you and please stay safe.”

Banksy’s true identity has yet to be revealed.
