IKARUS and DITO: Bahay ng Sining presents ANG PRINSIPITO, Isang Yugyugan at Kantahan sa Saliw ng Kalawakan
IKARUS and DITO: Bahay ng Sining presents, A Filipino Musical adaptation of the well-loved book, “The Little Prince”,
“ANG PRINSIPITO, Isang Yugyugan at Kantahan sa Saliw ng Kalawakan.”
This August, an enchanting classic comes to life on the stage of DITO: Bahay ng Sining. Back in the year 1943, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry published a novella about a Pilot and his strange adventures with a small boy claiming to be a prince of his own planet. Since then, The Little Prince has been translated to over 250 languages. This August a new Filipino adaptation for the stage will finally see its opening night. The reclusive playwright, Joaquin Cerdas has allowed his own playful and inventive “ANG PRINSIPITO”, full of quirks true to the Filipino spirit while staying faithful to the novella, to be enjoyed by children of all ages. Together with the heartstring-pulling music of JP del Mundo of the band, Never the Strangers, ANG PRINSIPITO is sure to be a hit we will never forget.
ANG PRINSIPITO takes us to the Sahara Dessert and introduces us to a forlorn Pilot who has crashed in the middle of nowhere with no hope of rescue. In this dismal state, he meets a lone figure who can smile, laugh, and love even when there is no hope. In his advanced age, the Pilot finally meets his Prinsipito. A meeting which the Pilot desperately needed; he has become too cynical, too adult, he has forgotten what it was like to be a child and most certainly must be reminded. The two strike a friendship and together they learn how to make the stars sing.
