If You’re A Gundam Fan, You Absolutely Can’t Miss Out On The Gunpla Expo!

Ton. Of. Kits!

Be it for sale or on display, there’s more than enough Gunpla to satisfy everybody. The display pieces are amazing; model kits of various scales are represented, and most Gundam series – past and present – made an appearance.

GunplaExpo_1I often see customized MG Sazabi Ver. Ka kits, but the plain one looks fantastic as well!

GunplaExpo_4Arguably one of the best-looking suits from the Universal Century, the Nu Gundam Ver. Ka also makes an appearance!

GunplaExpo_2The MG Ver. Ka Thunderbolt kits are known for having a TON of plastic to assemble. Here’s the Full Armor Gundam sans the heavy weaponry.

GunplaExpo_3And here’s the even more ridiculous one of the Thunderbolt MG kits: the Psycho Zaku!

GunplaExpo_5Shiny MG Unicorn (Titanium Finish)! Your choice of Green or Red frame parts.

GunplaExpo_12The Perfect Grade Banshee is just stunning!

GunplaExpo_33One of the sleeker suits even in its own timeline, the Gundam Astray Red Frame looks badass especially in an MG 1/100 scale!

GunplaExpo_6The High Grade Iron Blooded Orphans kits are among the most detailed High Grade kits today.

GunplaExpo_11Angel and Reaper.

GunplaExpo_15Good Pupper wants a hug!

GunplaExpo_10So how many RX-78-2 kits are there to date?

Speaking of kits for sale…*ehem* should I say, ON SALE.

Okay, not all kits are on sale, but discounted kits are really awesome deals! Up to 60% off!

GunplaExpo_31Looking for your next kit? You better move fast!

GunplaExpo_32Tons of people in the event! Trust me, this wasn’t the most packed it was.

Just when I thought the line at the start of the Expo was impressive, the line to purchase kits was even more intense that it occupied even the area for the exhibits! I dunno if it’s because of the kits that are on sale, or because everybody wanted a shot at the Expo limited kits (or both!). I dropped by again at around 6 PM and the line was STILL long that my plans on buying a little something for my Pink & Red 2017 collection was cancelled. I’ll be back for that SD EX Unicorn!

A Raffle With Killer Prizes At Stake!

For a minimum purchase of 1000 pesos, you can stand a chance to win 1 of 10 Gunpla tool sets, a 1/100 Hi-Resolution Gundam Barbatos, an MG 1/100 Psycho Zaku Ver. Ka, and more!

UPCOMING RELEASES MAKE AN APPERANCE!

Before the Expo began, it was announced that the entire Real Grade line-up will be shown, but what surprised me is that RG #24 has made an appearance in the Expo! I thought they’ll showcase more of the newly released RG Build Strike Gundam Full Package, but (at least for me) the RG Astray Gold Frame Amatsu Mina stole the show! The RG fan in me is SCREAMING!

GunplaExpo_30Oh look, an RG in the exhi…HOMAYGAHD, THE RG ASTRAY GOLD FRAME AMATSU MINA!

That aside, other Gundam kit grades are getting upcoming releases which also made an appearance in the event! The SD Gundam EX-Standard Unicorn Banshee (Destroy Mode), both the High Grade IBO 1/144 and the 1/100 Full Mechanics Gundam Bael, as well as the High Grade Atlas Gundam are present. I personally love the Unicorn Banshee since I also happen to collect the SD EX line of kits. HYPED!

GunplaExpo_20v2The Atlas Gundam has a unique design, almost too curvy for the timeline its in.

GunplaExpo_9The Unicorn’s Black Twin, the Banshee!

GunplaExpo_8The High Grade Gundam Bael has a neat blue and (predominantly) white color scheme that reminds me of the Tallgeese III…and I like it!

A Three-Meter-Tall Statue of the RX-78-2 Gundam!

GunplaExpo_24The iconic pose of the RX-78-2 Gundam, as seen in Episode 43 of the 1979 anime.

I believe that this is the centerpiece of the Expo. I personally love the RX-78-2 Gundam. Built the RG four times, another two times for the P-Bandai exclusives, and the SD EX one once (and I think this won’t be the last time I’ll build this model *ehem* Master Grade 3.0 *ehem* Perfect Grade). Taking a photo with this is a MUST for all Gundam fans not only to pay respect to the Gundam that started it all, but just because it’s a really awesome statue! While it may not be the life-size statue in Japan, this huge display piece is the next best thing!

GunplaExpo_18Take me to the Expo, please!

A paradise for fans such as myself, the Gunpla Expo is a treat, a blessing to us who wants to get closer to the pinnacle of the Gundam fandom. While it’s not as grand as, say, going to the Mecca of the fandom in Japan, the Expo is the biggest stage yet for us Filipino fans. Do you have Gunpla Expo stories you’d like to share?
