In case you didn’t know, the wonderfully charming Disney Princess movie, “Enchanted,” is getting a sequel!
Disney Studios President of Production Sean Bailey made it official on December 11, 2020, that the sequel, titled Disenchanted, is going straight to Disney+. At the time, only Amy Adams, who played the role of Giselle, confirmed her return to the sequel.
But here’s great news: it’s been announced that the other main cast members, Patrick Dempsey, Idina Menzel, and James Marsden, will be reprising their roles!
“Amy Adams is in it. Patrick is in it. Idina Menzel is in it. James Marsden – they’re in it,” said film composer Alan Menken during a live stream with JLGB Virtual.
It has yet to be confirmed when the release date will be.
Enchanted follows the story of a fairytale princess who is set to marry her prince charming, Prince Edward, with whom she falls in love at first sight. But on her wedding day, her evil stepmother banishes her to the real world of New York City where nothing is as perfect as she had been used to all her life. There, she meets a cynical divorce lawyer, Robert, who refuses to believe in true love and happy endings.
It garnered multiple awards and nominations from the Saturn Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and the coveted Academy Awards, among many others.
Disenchanted, according to the official synopsis, will be set “ten years after her happily ever after” when “Giselle questions her happiness, inadvertently turning the lives of those in the real world and Andalasia upside down in the process.”
