It’s a new age where almost everyone accepts change and technology with open arms. In the 90s, it was a shame to tell everyone you got cosmetic surgery done. Many celebrities were also shamed for getting treatments to improve their bodies. Things are different now, though; we are embracing change more.
Recently, I heard of thread lifts, which are usually done by celebrities on their noses. It’s a less invasive treatment to make the nose thinner, sharper, or more lifted. Though this treatment has been available for a few years now, it is just recently that I found out that you can also get a thread lift for your face.
Known as Happy Lift from Menarini, it is a minimally-invasive way of lifting your skin to make it more V-shaped. It prevents the face from sagging and gets rid of laugh lines, too. With the era of K-dramas and K-pop, people are wanting to have a more defined face shape. According to Dra. Kaycee Reyes of Luminisce Skin Clinic, Happy Lift is a better alternative to a full-on facelift because it’s minimally invasive and the treatment is so fast that you can do it over your lunch break. The effect of the treatment can last up to a few years, depending on how you take care of your face afterwards.
Though I had a pretty small face to start with, I wanted my jaw area to look more defined and get rid of a bit of sagging. So I scheduled a consultation and voila.
As mentioned, the treatment is minimally invasive. Basically, they put threads into your face to lift them from the inside. (Don’t worry. The whole process isn’t painful because of the topical and local anesthesia.) The threads inserted into your face will eventually melt away after a few years, so you don’t have to worry about that, either.
Dra. Kaycee drew on my face to make sure that the threads would be placed properly and evenly. The face is actually asymmetrical, i.e. the sizes or gaps on the left side are not equal to the other side, so your doctor has to make sure that the lifting is placed properly.
As you can see, the whole process is done while sitting down. I was honestly very nervous about the whole thing, but I trust my doctor 100%, so I let go of my fear after a few minutes.
I have pretty sensitive skin and because I had TMJ, my jaw was a little painful after. Before the treatment, Dra. Kaycee explained that it is normal for there to be swelling and redness in the cheek and jaw area, which will go away after a day or two.
This was my face the night after my treatment. DO NOT WORRY! It doesn’t hurt, though it looks swollen. The swelling disappeared the next day.
The biggest challenge was sleeping because I couldn’t sleep on my side, but that’s basically the only thing that bothered me about the experience.
After a week, I went back to Luminisce for a follow-up checkup. The results were already visible, but they became even more visible after a few weeks. Dra. Kaycee told me that the effect would be even better after a few weeks to two months.
I noticed that my cheekbones are more visible now and my jawline is more defined.
Results actually vary depending on your age, skin elasticity, and the healing process. As for me, I had swelling and a bit of pain, but many other people don’t experience those things at all. If you are worried about side effects or complications, there’s only the swelling or dimpling that Luminisce will closely monitor, so you don’t have to worry about it. Both the dimpling and swelling will disappear after a few days.
Overall, I was very happy with the early results and I’m excited to see the result after a few weeks. I have already gotten so many compliments about how my face looks smaller and more refined, and the effects have been visible even only after a week.
