Finally, the much-awaited HUAWEI Mate 40 Series has landed on Philippine shores!

I’ve been a fan of the Mate Series for many years because this is where you can truly experience HUAWEI’s best and latest innovations. The Mate Series is also HUAWEI’s flagship/high-end series which is ideal for CEOs, managers, executives, entrepreneurs, decision-makers or to all busy people who need the highest specs to further boost productivity needed for their career.

In my experience, the Mate Series always features huge battery capacity, fastest charging, their latest Kirin chipset, latest EMUI, the latest camera that’s co-engineered with Leica … everything new that no other brand has ever released!

I have no info about the SRP yet so for now, let’s focus on the contents of the box and some test shots

Let’s check what’s in the box…

As for the key specs, according to HUAWEI’s website, here are 6 things to love about the new Mate 40 Pro. I would disagree with what I read on their website though because there are soooo many things (not just 6) to love about the Mate 40 Pro! I’ll be writing more about these in my in-depth review.  For now, ok ok, let’s highlight the 6 first…

  1. Powerful 5nm Kirin 9000 5G SoC

To fully support today’s busy multi-taskers,  HUAWEI packed the Mate 40 Pro with its latest 5 nm Kirin 9000 5G SoC. The Kirin 9000 has more than 15 billion transistors that is capable of multi-tasking, processing massive amounts of data, and powering instantly-responsive AI computing with ease. Of course, it is 5G enabled so users can truly enjoy the wonders of 5G.

  1. Ultra Vision Cine Camera

I’ve been testing out the camera of the HUAWEI Mate 40 Pro for over a week now and I’m simply blown-away with the visuals I’ve created so far. I noticed a lot of improvements with the sharpness and clarity for both still and videos. Its main camera has 50 MP, f/1.9 aperture, 1/1.28 inch sensor, RYYB colour filter array and Octa PD Autofocus.

Here are some sample photos:

Aside from the 50MP main shooter, it also has the ff:

Ultra-Wide Cine Camera

20 MP, f/1.8 aperture to preserve splendid moments with clear-cut lines and edges.
Laser Sensor

Accurate and fast autofocus on subjects both still and moving.

Telephoto Camera

12 MP, 10x hybrid zoom, 50x digital zoom to bring hidden details out into the open.

  1. Ultra Vision Selfie Camera

Another feature that I really like about the new Mate 40 Pro is that it now has an improved selfie camera with 13MP that not only takes still selfies but selfie videos with wide-angle and slow-motion effects too!

  2. 66 W wired and 50W wireless HUAWEI SuperCharge

I was pretty happy with my 40W SuperCharge charger, but HUAWEI kicked it even a notch higher this time by creating a 66W ultra-fast charging experience! Even the 50W wireless SuperCharge is indeed a game-changer. I can’t wait to purchase the 50W Wireless charger when it becomes available at our local HUAWEI Concept Stores.

  1. New AI Gesture Control

I believe this feature has been introduced last year on the Mate 30 Series and now they are including a better version of it again. Now, users can close the screen, answer calls or control audio playback aside from scrolling and taking screenshots. This is very useful especially if your hands are too dirty or busy to touch your phone.

  1. 3D Face Unlock :

The 3D Face Unlock feature works in dark and bright environments, free of the raising-the-phone hassle, recognizing you and unlocking the phone with just a quick glimpse. Alternatively, just touch and hold, and use your fingerprint to access your phone easily. I also use this secure feature when opening private apps so no one but myself can access my social media apps.

So far, I’m super in love with the Mate 40 Pro! It’s currently the BEST HUAWEI smartphone device!

Stay tuned for my official review and more photo and video samples.

I’ll also update you with the SRP when I receive news from HUAWEI!
