Hokkaido Ramen Santouka – The Mythic Ramen Hits Manila

Hokkaido Ramen Santouka also offers set menu options for people who want a complete meal. A usual set meal contains:

  • 1 small ramen
  • 1 rice bowl
  • 1 chawanmushi
  • 1 tsukemono
  • 1 salad
  • 1 tea

If you want to have more ramen, you can get it upsized for a certain fee. Here is how a regular set menu looks like.

Another rave-worthy item from Santouka, which is surprisingly not a ramen, is the Tori Karaage. This fried chicken is cooked to golden brown perfection on the outside, and tender and flavorful on the inside.

We also did not miss this opportunity to sample one of their top-selling rice bowls, the Char Siu Gohan. This pork belly rice bowl is just spectacular. It has a certain smokiness that we really enjoyed.

We ended the meal with a sweet note of authentic Japanese dessert, the mochi cream. We tried the raspberry mille feuille (raspberry pralines), green tea, apple pie, and blueberry yoghurt. I liked the green tea, which made me feel like being back in Kyoto. The raspberry mille feuille was also good and it was made even better by the crunchiness of the pralines.

We would like to thank Hokkaido Ramen Santouka Philippines for accommodating us and sharing with us some ramen love. We truly enjoy our stay, and the vibe and food was really endearing.

When in Manila and you want to “soup up” then visit Hokkaido Ramen Santouka. But be there early because their bowls of authentic ramen make really, really long lines.
